Connectors of Sequence and Time (ধারাবাহিকতা ও সময় নির্দেশক কানেক্টরস)#

ইংরেজি গ্রামারে Writing বা Speaking-কে গুছিয়ে উপস্থাপন করার জন্য Connectors of Sequence and Time অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ। HSC, SSC, Admission test কিংবা IELTS-এর মতো পরীক্ষায় Flow ও Cohesion বজায় রাখতে এগুলো নিয়মিত ব্যবহার করতে হয়।

১. Connectors of Sequence (ধারাবাহিকতা নির্দেশক কানেক্টরস)#

কোনো কাজ বা ঘটনার ক্রম (step-by-step order) বোঝাতে আমরা Sequence Connectors ব্যবহার করি।

• First / Firstly / At first (প্রথমে)
• ব্যবহার: কোনো তালিকা বা বর্ণনার প্রথম ধাপ উল্লেখ করতে।
• Example: First, you need to read the instructions carefully. (প্রথমে নির্দেশনাবলী মনোযোগ দিয়ে পড়তে হবে।)

• Next / Then / After that (তারপর / এরপরে)
• ব্যবহার: প্রথম কাজের পরবর্তী ধাপগুলো ক্রমানুসারে বলতে।
• Example: We reached Farmgate. Then, we took a rickshaw to TSC. (আমরা ফার্মগেট পৌঁছালাম। তারপর টিএসসি যাওয়ার জন্য রিকশা নিলাম।)

• Finally / Lastly / In the end (অবশেষে / পরিশেষে)
• ব্যবহার: শেষ ধাপ বা সমাপ্তি বোঝাতে।
• Example: Finally, after hours of hard work, they solved the math problem.

Pro-Tip: রন্ধনপ্রণালী (Recipe), কোনো প্রক্রিয়া (Process writing), বা দৈনন্দিন রুটিন বর্ণনা করতে Sequence Connectors অপরিহার্য।

২. Connectors of Time (সময় নির্দেশক কানেক্টরস)#

দুটি কাজের মধ্যে সময়ের সম্পর্ক (আগে, পরে বা একই সাথে) দেখাতে Time Connectors ব্যবহার করা হয়।

• When (যখন / তখন)
• ব্যবহার: একটি নির্দিষ্ট সময়ে কোনো কাজ ঘটার ক্ষেত্রে।
• Example: When the power went out, I was studying. (যখন বিদ্যুৎ চলে গেল, আমি তখন পড়ছিলাম।)

• While (যখন / চলাকালীন)
• ব্যবহার: সাধারণত Continuous action বা দুটি কাজ একই সাথে চলা বোঝাতে।
• Structure: While + Past Continuous, Past Simple
• Example: While I was walking in Dhanmondi Lake, it started raining.

• As soon as (মাত্রই / সাথে সাথেই)
• ব্যবহার: একটি ঘটনা ঘটার সাথে সাথেই আরেকটি ঘটনা ঘটলে।
• Example: As soon as the teacher entered the classroom, the students stopped talking.

• Before & After (পূর্বে এবং পরে)
• Before: কোনো কাজের ঠিক আগে।
• After: কোনো কাজের ঠিক পরে।
• Example: Wash your hands before having lunch.
• Example: After completing HSC, he moved to Dhaka for coaching.

• Until / Till (পর্যন্ত / যে পর্যন্ত না)
• Important Rule: Until নিজেই Negative অর্থ বহন করে, তাই Until যুক্ত অংশে সাধারণত ‘not’ বসে না।
• Example: Wait here until I come back. (আমি ফিরে না আসা পর্যন্ত এখানে অপেক্ষা করো।)

• Since (থেকে / নির্দিষ্ট সময় ধরে)
• Example: He has been living in Sylhet since 2018.

৩. Common Mistakes Bangladeshi Students Make#

• 1.'Until'-এর পর 'not' বসানো:

• ❌ Incorrect: Wait until the bus does not come.
• ✔️ Correct: Wait until the bus comes.

• 2.'Then' বনাম 'Than' গুলিয়ে ফেলা:

• 'Then' সময়ের ক্রম বোঝায় (Next/After that)।
• 'Than' তুলনার ক্ষেত্রে ব্যবহৃত হয় (Comparative degree)।

• 3.While vs When এর ভুল ব্যবহার:

• দীর্ঘ সময় ধরে চলা চলমান কাজের পূর্বে সাধারণত While বসে (যেমন: While watching TV), আর হঠাৎ ঘটা কাজের জন্য When বসে (যেমন: When the phone rang).

শূণ্যস্থানে সঠিক Connector বসান:
