Adverbs of Place and Direction (স্থান এবং দিক নির্দেশক ক্রিয়াবিশেষণ)#

English Grammar-এ Adverb of Place and Direction খুবই গুরুত্বপূর্ণ। সহজ কথায়, কোনো কাজ কোথায় (Where) বা কোন দিকে (In which direction) হচ্ছে, তা যে word প্রকাশ করে তাকে Adverb of Place বা Adverb of Direction বলে।

১. Adverbs of Place (স্থান নির্দেশক)#

এগুলো মূলত "Where?" (কোথায়?) প্রশ্নের উত্তর দেয়। কাজটির অবস্থান কোথায় তা বোঝাতে এগুলো ব্যবহৃত হয়।

Common Examples:

• Here (এখানে)
• There (সেখানে)
• Everywhere (সব জায়গায়)
• Nowhere (কোথাও না)
• Inside / Outside (ভিতরে / বাইরে)
• Abroad (বিদেশে)
• Nearby (কাছাকাছি)

Sentence Examples:

• 1.Please come here. (দয়া করে এখানে আসো।)
• 2.I searched for my phone everywhere, but couldn't find it. (আমি আমার ফোন সব জায়গায় খুঁজলাম, কিন্তু পেলাম না।)
• 3.He went abroad for higher studies. (সে উচ্চশিক্ষার জন্য বিদেশে গেছে।)
• 4.Wait outside until I call you. (আমি না ডাকা পর্যন্ত বাইরে অপেক্ষা করো।)

২. Adverbs of Direction (দিক নির্দেশক)#

এগুলো মূলত "In which direction?" (কোন দিকে?) বোঝায়। অর্থাৎ কাজটি কোন দিকে অগ্রসর হচ্ছে বা চলাচল করছে তা নির্দেশ করে।

Common Examples:

• Up / Down (উপরের দিকে / নিচের দিকে)
• In / Out (ভিতরের দিকে / বাইরের দিকে)
• Forward / Backward (সামনের দিকে / পেছনের দিকে)
• Homeward (বাড়ির অভিমুখে)
• North / South / East / West (উত্তর / দক্ষিণ / পূর্ব / পশ্চিম দিকে)
• Away (দূরে)

Sentence Examples:

• 1.Move forward to get a better view. (ভালোভাবে দেখতে সামনের দিকে এগিয়ে যাও।)
• 2.The kids ran outside when it started to rain. (বৃষ্টি শুরু হতেই বাচ্চারা বাইরের দিকে দৌড়ে গেল।)
• 3.Walk straight and then turn left. (সোজা হাঁটো এবং তারপর বাঁয়ে মোড় নাও।)
• 4.The thief ran away. (চোরটি পালিয়ে গেল/দূরে দৌড়ে গেল।)

৩. বাক্যে এদের অবস্থান (Position in Sentence)#

Adverb of Place এবং Direction সাধারণত বাক্যের Main Verb বা Object-এর পরে বসে।

• Structure: Subject + Verb + (Object) + Adverb of Place/Direction
• Example: They (Subject) are playing (Verb) football (Object) outside (Adverb of Place).
• Example: She looked (Verb) up (Adverb of Direction).

৪. Bangladeshi Learners-দের জন্য Common Mistakes & Tips#

• Mistake 1: 'Abroad'-এর আগে 'to' বা 'in' ব্যবহার করা
• ❌ Incorrect: He is going to abroad.
• ✔️ Correct: He is going abroad. (Note: 'Abroad' নিজেই একটি Adverb of Place, তাই এর আগে Preposition (to/in) বসে না।)

• Mistake 2: 'Home'-এর আগে গতি বোঝাতে 'to' বসানো
• ❌ Incorrect: I am going to home.
• ✔️ Correct: I am going home. (Note: 'Home' যখন গন্তব্য নির্দেশ করে adberb হিসেবে বসে, তখন 'to' বসে না। কিন্তু 'I am at home' সঠিক, কারণ সেখানে 'at home' অবস্থান বোঝাচ্ছে।)
