Quantitative Adjectives (পরিমাণবাচক বিশেষণ)#

১. Quantitative Adjective কী?#

যে Adjective কোনো Noun-এর পরিমাণ (quantity বা amount) নির্দেশ করে, তাকে Quantitative Adjective বা Adjective of Quantity বলে।

সহজ কথায়, কোনো বাক্যে Noun-কে যদি "How much?" (কতটুকু?) দিয়ে প্রশ্ন করা হয়, তাহলে যে উত্তর পাওয়া যায়, সেটাই হলো Quantitative Adjective।

গুরুত্বপূর্ণ নোট: Quantitative Adjectives সাধারণত Uncountable Noun (যা গণনা করা যায় না, শুধু পরিমাপ করা যায়)-এর পূর্বে বসে।

২. বহুল ব্যবহৃত Quantitative Adjectives:#

• Some (কিছু)
• Much (অনেক)
• Little / A little (অল্প / সামান্য)
• Enough (পর্যাপ্ত)
• All (সম্পূর্ণ / সব)
• Whole (সমগ্র)
• No / None (কোনো না)
• Any (যেকোনো / কোনো)
• Half (অর্ধেক)
• Sufficient (যথেষ্ট)

৩. বাস্তব উদাহরণ (Bangla Meaning সহ):#

• 1.Much:

• English: I don't have much money.
• বাংলা: আমার কাছে বেশি টাকা নেই। (এখানে money একটি uncountable noun, তাই 'many' না হয়ে 'much' হয়েছে।)

• 2.Little / A little:

• English: There is a little water in the glass.
• বাংলা: গ্লাসে সামান্য পানি আছে। (মনে রাখবেন: Little = নেই বললেই চলে [Negative], A little = কিছুটা আছে [Positive])

• 3.Some:

• English: Please give me some rice.
• বাংলা: আমাকে কিছুটা ভাত দিন।

• 4.Whole:

• English: He ate the whole loaf of bread.
• বাংলা: সে পুরো পাউরুটি খেয়ে ফেলেছিল।

• 5.Enough:

• English: We have enough time to catch the launch.
• বাংলা: লঞ্চ ধরার জন্য আমাদের কাছে পর্যাপ্ত সময় আছে।

৪. পরীক্ষার জন্য বিশেষ সতর্কতা (Common Confusion):#

Adjective of Quantity vs Adjective of Number: অনেক সময় একই শব্দ (যেমন: Some, All, Any, Enough, No) Quantity এবং Number উভয়ের জন্যই ব্যবহৃত হতে পারে। পার্থক্য বোঝার উপায়:

• Uncountable Noun-এর আগে বসলে $\rightarrow$ Quantitative Adjective
• উদাহরণ: Give me some water. (Water গণনা করা যায় না $\rightarrow$ Quantity)
• Countable Noun-এর আগে বসলে $\rightarrow$ Numeral Adjective / Adjective of Number
• উদাহরণ: I have some mangoes. (Mangoes গণনা করা যায় $\rightarrow$ Number)

নিচের বাক্যগুলোতে Quantitative Adjective চিহ্নিত করুন:

• 1.He drank all the milk.
• 2.She showed much courage during the accident.
• 3.There is little hope of his recovery.

(উত্তর: ১. all, ২. much, ৩. little — কারণ milk, courage, hope সবগুলোই Uncountable Noun এবং পরিমাণ নির্দেশ করছে।)
