Descriptive Adjectives

আজকের ক্লাসে আমরা শিখব Descriptive Adjectives (যাকে অনেকে Adjective of Quality-ও বলে থাকেন)।

Descriptive Adjective কী?#

সহজ কথায়, যে Adjective কোনো Noun বা Pronoun-এর গুণ (quality), দোষ, অবস্থা (condition), আকার (size), বা রূপ/রং বর্ণনা করে, তাকে Descriptive Adjective বলা হয়।

এটি সাধারণত "Noun-টি দেখতে কেমন?" বা "What kind?" প্রশ্নের উত্তর দেয়।

বিভিন্ন ধরণের Descriptive Adjectives:#

• 1.Quality / Character (গুণ বা স্বভাব):

• Honest (সৎ), Kind (দয়ালু), Brave (সাহসী), Selfish (স্বার্থপর)
• Example: Rakib is an honest boy. (রাকিব কেমন ছেলে? - সৎ)

• 2.Size / Shape (আকার বা গঠন):

• Tall (লম্বা), Huge (বিশাল), Tiny (খুব ছোট), Round (গোল)
• Example: Dhaka has many huge buildings.

• 3.Appearance / Look (বাহ্যিক রূপ):

• Beautiful (সুন্দর), Handsome (সুদর্শন), Ugly (কুৎসিত), Clean (পরিষ্কার)
• Example: Cox's Bazar has a scenic sea beach.

• 4.Condition / State (অবস্থা):

• Fresh (তাজা), Hot (গরম), Sick (অসুস্থ), Broken (ভাঙা)
• Example: The tea is too hot to drink.

• 5.Color (রং):

• Red, Blue, Golden, Green ইত্যাদি।
• Example: She bought a red sharee for Eid.

বাক্যে Descriptive Adjective ব্যবহারের দুটি নিয়ম (Position):#

• 1.Attributive Use (Noun-এর ঠিক আগে বসে):

• Format: Adjective + Noun
• Example: It was a rainy day in Sylhet. (এখানে 'day' noun-এর আগে 'rainy' বসেছে)

• 2.Predicative Use (Linking Verb যেমন: be, feel, smell, seem ইত্যাদির পরে বসে):

• Format: Subject + Linking Verb + Adjective
• Example: The Hilsha fish tastes delicious. (এখানে 'tastes' verb-এর পর 'delicious' বসেছে)

Bangladeshi Context-এ কিছু Real-Life Examples:#

• The Padma Bridge is an architectural wonder.
• Traffic jam in Dhaka is terrible during peak hours.
• Grandma made tasty pitha for us.
