Report general truths and current facts without unnecessary tense changes.

সাধারণত Direct Speech থেকে Indirect Speech করার সময় Reporting Verb যদি Past Tense (যেমন: said, told) হয়, তাহলে Reported Speech-এর Tense পরিবর্তন করতে হয় (Backshift: Present Simple变为 Past Simple)।
কিন্তু একটি বিশেষ ব্যতিক্রম (Exception) আছে: যদি Reported Speech-এর বক্তব্যটি এখনও সত্য (still true), চিরন্তন সত্য (Universal Truth), অথবা বৈজ্ঞানিক/সাধারণ সত্য (Scientific/General Fact) বোঝায়, তাহলে Tense পরিবর্তন করার প্রয়োজন নেই (বা অনেক ক্ষেত্রে পরিবর্তন করা যায় না)।
🔍 প্রধান ক্ষেত্রগুলো (Key Scenarios):#
১. Universal Truth & Scientific Fact (চিরন্তন ও বৈজ্ঞানিক সত্য)#
বিজ্ঞানসম্মত সত্য বা যা সবসময় অপরিবর্তনীয়, সেগুলোতে Tense পরিবর্তন হবে না।
- Direct: The teacher said, "The earth moves around the sun."
- Indirect: The teacher said that the earth moves around the sun. (NOT: moved)
- Direct: He said, "Water boils at 100°C."
- Indirect: He said that water boils at 100°C.
২. Facts That Are Still True Today (যা বর্তমানেও সত্য)#
বক্তা অতীতে বললেও, ওই ঘটনা বা তথ্যটি যদি আজও অপরিবর্তিত থাকে, তবে Present Tense বজায় রাখা যায়।
- Direct: Shuvo said, "I work at a software company in Dhaka."
- Indirect: Shuvo said that he works at a software company in Dhaka. (ব্যাখ্যা: শুভ এখনও ঢাকাতেই সফটওয়্যার কোম্পানিতে কাজ করছে, তাই 'works' ব্যবহার করাই বেশি স্বাভাবিক।)
- Direct: She told me, "My father is a doctor."
- Indirect: She told me that her father is a doctor. (তার বাবা এখনও জীবিত এবং পেশায় ডাক্তার।)
৩. Habitual Facts (অভ্যাসগত কাজ)#
যা মানুষের নিয়মিত অভ্যাস, সেখানেও Present Indefinite রাখা হয়।
- Direct: Rahim said, "I wake up early in the morning."
- Indirect: Rahim said that he wakes up early in the morning.
⚠️ Exam Tip for Bangladeshi Students (HSC/SSC/Admission):#
- 1.Board Exam বা Admission Test-এ: Universal Truth ও Scientific Truth-এর ক্ষেত্রে কখনো Past Tense লিখবেন না। যেমন:
- Incorrect: Our teacher said that honesty was the best policy. ❌
- Correct: Our teacher said that honesty is the best policy. ✔️
- 2.Situation পরিবর্তনের ক্ষেত্রে: যদি ব্যক্তিটি ওই অবস্থায় আর না থাকে, তখন কিন্তু Tense Past হয়ে যাবে।
- Shuvo যদি চাকরি ছেড়ে দিয়ে থাকে: Shuvo said that he worked at a software company.
