Explaining Reasons and Giving Examples

English-এ কথা বলা বা লেখার সময় আমাদের প্রায়ই কোনো বিষয়ের কারণ ব্যাখ্যা (Explaining Reasons) করতে হয় এবং কথাকে পরিষ্কার করার জন্য উদাহরণ (Giving Examples) দিতে হয়। নিচে সহজ নিয়মে এদের ব্যবহার দেখানো হলো:

১. Explaining Reasons (কারণ ব্যাখ্যা করা)#

কোনো কিছু কেন ঘটেছে তা বোঝাতে আমরা মূলত Because, Because of, Due to, Since, এবং As ব্যবহার করি।

ক. Because vs. Because of#

• Because + Clause (Subject + Verb):
• নিয়ম: Because-এর পর পুরো একটি পূর্ণাঙ্গ বাক্য (sentence/clause) বসে।
• Example: I could not attend the class yesterday because I was ill.
• ব্যাখ্যা: এখানে 'I was ill'-এর মধ্যে Subject (I) এবং Verb (was) রয়েছে।

• Because of + Noun / Noun Phrase / Pronoun:
• নিয়ম: Because of-এর পর কোনো full sentence বসবে না, শুধু noun বা gerund (v+ing) বসবে।
• Example: The cricket match was postponed because of heavy rain.
• ব্যাখ্যা: 'heavy rain' কোনো পূর্ণাঙ্গ বাক্য নয়, এটি একটি noun phrase.

খ. Due to#

• নিয়ম: সাধারণ অর্থে 'Because of'-এর মতোই ব্যবহৃত হয় (কারণে/দরুণ)। সাধারণত 'be' verb (is/are/was/were)-এর পর 'Due to' ব্যবহার করা বেশি formal.
• Example: His success was due to his hard work.
• Example: The bus was late due to traffic jam on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway.

গ. Since / As#

• নিয়ম: যখন শ্রোতা বা পাঠক কারণটি আগে থেকেই জানে বা কারণটি স্বাভাবিক, তখন বাক্যের শুরুতে বা মাঝে 'Since' অথবা 'As' বসে।
• Example: As it was a government holiday, all banks were closed.
• Example: Since you are new here, let me guide you.

২. Giving Examples (উদাহরণ দেওয়া)#

নিজের বক্তব্যকে justify করতে উদাহরণ দেওয়ার জন্য For example, For instance, এবং Such as সবচেয়ে বেশি প্রচলিত।

ক. For example / For instance#

• নিয়ম: এই দুটি সাধারণত নতুন বাক্য শুরু করতে বা comma (,) দিয়ে মূল বাক্যের সাথে জুড়ে দিয়ে বিস্তারিত উদাহরণ দিতে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
• Example: Regular exercise has many benefits. For example, it helps reduce stress and keeps the heart healthy.
• Example: Bangladeshi street food is very tasty. For instance, Fuchka and Chotpoti are loved by everyone.

খ. Such as#

• নিয়ম: বাক্যের ভেতরে সরাসরি ২-৩টি নাম বা তালিকার উদাহরণ যোগ করতে 'Such as' বসে।
• Structure: General Category + such as + Examples
• Example: You should include seasonal fruits such as mangoes, jackfruits, and lychees in your diet.
• ভুল সচেতনতা: 'Such as'-এর পর কখনো etc. বসাবেন না (যেমন: such as mango, lychee etc. ❌ – এটি redundant বা অপ্রয়োজনীয়)।
